The basic rules of Baccarah game:
- After all players place their bets on Bakarah table, the dealer distributes two hand cards consisting of two cards for each hand (the player’s hand is known as Player hand, and the bank’s hand is known as Bank hand).
- The goal is to guess the hand whose total score will be closest to the number 9.
- Players can wager at the hands of the bank, the player’s hand, or wager on a tie between the two hands.
- Image cards and scores are counted as zero, while ace cards are counted as one point. All other cards carry points according to the number written on them.
- If the number of hand points exceeds the number 9, then 10 of the total hand value is subtracted.
- There are rules applied by the casino to determine whether a bank hand or a player’s hand deserves to receive an additional card (each hand gets a maximum of three cards).
- Players who wager at the winning player’s hand get a 1: 1 reward, that is, double their pot.
- Players who win by the winning bank get a 1: 1 reward, but they must pay a 5% commission to the casino (and the chances of winning are 19 to 20).
- The win percentage for a tie bet is 1: 8.
Most players remember the iconic image of secret agent James Bond playing Baccarat in the popular James Bond novels and films. Although the game may seem challenging and elegant (and perhaps frightening for ordinary players!), The ease of learning is as easy as betting on the heart of a coin, and it has the lowest level of house Edge casino profits.
The historical origins of the game Baccarah
The origin of this game is due to the Italian game “Baccara” and this word means in Italian it is zero, meaning that all cards and scores in the game “Baccara” are equal to zero.
Baccarat was first played in the 14th century in Italy and France, and the popularity of the game grew to become during the reign of King Louis XIV (1643-1715) one of the most popular games in Europe. Although gambling games were banned in France during 1837, Baccarah continued to play in secret at home by the elite and ordinary people alike, and this concealment kept the game prosperous for many years until the casinos were legalized in the nineteenth century and the Baccarat game became one of the players’ games Europeans preferred.
Types of Baccarah game
Over the years, there have been several versions of the Baccarah game, and the most famous of them are:
- American Baccarat (also known as Punto Banco).
- Chemin de fer (also known as Chemmy).
- Baccarat Banque.
The previously mentioned versions of the Baccarah game have almost the same rules; But the main difference between them is how to handle and distribute the cards. (We’ll explain the details of each game in Chapter Two).
Punto Banco.
(Tie)
The winning bet on Tie wins 8 to 1. That means if you bet on one chip, you will redeem them in addition to 8 other chips. For example, if you bet $ 10 on the break-even option then you will get $ 10 plus another $ 80.
Betting on a tie means that the bank’s hand and the player’s hand will be equal and therefore they will neither win nor lose. After the tie occurs, you can remove the chips, add them to another bet, keep them on the same hand in the next game, add more chips to them, or even take them and not bet again.
(Note: Some casinos pay 9 to 1 on the winning tie bet. This means they give you nine chips above the chip that you bet on.)
Rate cards in Baccarah game
Baccarah is played with 8 cards (sometimes it is played with 6 cards). Each card has a numerical value (see the chart on the right) and the symbols that the cards carry do not affect their numerical values.
As for the values of cards, they are as follows:
- Scores and image cards (jack, queen, king) are 0.
- Ace equals 1.
- The numbers 2 through 9 are equal to the value written on them.
The highest hand in a card game is worth 9 (note that the hands in the early game cannot exceed 9 in the style of blackjack).
If the hand value exceeds the number 9, you can do one of the following calculations to see the total hand value:
- Drop the first number from the total.
- Subtract 10 from the total hand value.
Here are some examples of how to calculate their total numerical value:
If the sum of the hand value is 15, then you must drop the first number (which is 1) and thus the result will be 5. You can also subtract 10 from the sum of the hand value (10 – 15) and the sum will be 5 as well. (Either way, you’ll get the same sum and it’s up to you to decide which method of calculation is the easiest for you.)
If the sum of the second hand is 14, you must drop the first number (1) to get the actual total of the hand which is 4. You can also subtract 10 from 14 to reach the final total which is 4 as well.
Types of Pakarah game tables
There are three types of Baccarat game tables:
- Full-size Punto Banco Baccarat
The rules of play do not differ between these types, but the difference lies in the number of players at each table, how the cards are distributed, and the minimum and maximum stakes. We will explain each type separately in more detail:
1. Full-size Punto Banco Baccarat
Punto Banco game table is known as Big Baccarat, and this game is placed in the corner for adult players or sometimes in the Baccarat room. This table can accommodate up to 14 players, and the stakes in this game are often the highest in the casino (for example, in Las Vegas casinos, the stakes on this game range from a minimum of $ 100 to a maximum of $ 100,000 Maximum).
Players can hold cards in this game; Where the bank’s largest bettor can hold bank cards. As for the biggest betting player, the player can hold the player’s hand cards. There are three distributors on this table.
Big Baccarat is suitable for players on big budgets or “whales”! Who can bet thousands of dollars on one hand. Sometimes these players experience losses that cause them to get angry and tear the cards before lifting them off the table, but casinos often forgive them!
The Mini-Baccarat Table is a low-risk version of the Big Baccarat game. The Mini-Baccarat tables are located in the casino next to the Blackjack tables, and can accommodate 6 or 7 players.
The minimum stake on this table usually ranges between $ 5 and $ 15. Players can wager up to $ 5,000 per round. This game is managed by one distributor only.
Unlike Big Baccarat, players are not allowed to hold cards (only the dealer is responsible for handing out and revealing cards). Because of the last rule, Mini-Baccarat is much faster than Big Baccarat (over 200 hands an hour is played versus 40-70 hands in Big Baccarat).
Midi-Baccarat game tables feature 9 seats and have one dispenser. And since players love to flip cards themselves and consider it part of their fun to play, Midi-Baccarat is designed to allow them to do so. (However, casinos do not tolerate players bending or tearing cards!).
You can find this game in the VIP room or in the main casino. Midi-Baccarat is not as fast as Mini-Baccarat but it is faster than Big Baccarat game. The betting limits on this game range from a minimum of $ 25 to a maximum of $ 10,000.
Baccarah playing in the casino
In the next part of this guide, we’ll walk you through how to distribute cards in Big Baccarat.
Distribution of cards
After the dealer shuffles a new set of 8 packs of cards, he will ask one of the players sitting at the table to select a card, and by doing this procedure the casino allows the player to determine the starting point from which the cards will start circulating. Where the dealer will distribute the cards starting from the next card to choose the player.
After that, the dealer calculates 15 cards starting from the last card in the total cards, then he will insert the card chosen by the player and when this card is distributed, the round is completed and the game is paused and taken 8 new packages of cards and mix them for distribution then the eight packages are placed in the distribution box and will The dealer removes the first card and turns it over. The value of this package will determine the number of additional cards that will be removed from the card distribution box.
For example, if the first card has a value of six, the next six cards will be removed from the distribution box. If the card holds a value of ten, then ten cards will be removed. These cards are inserted into a slot in the middle of the table, to drop into a container under the table.
Bakarah table layout
Big Baccarat game table can accommodate 14 players The design below contains seats numbered from 1 to 15. (Usually, the unlucky number 13 is not placed in the Baccarah game chart, and in some Asian casinos the number 4 is not displayed because it stands for in Asian culture to Death!) In front of every player sitting on the table there is a square in which they can place their wager chips at the player’s hand, the bank’s hand, or the hand of a tie as shown in the graph below.
Big Baccarat game table is managed by 3 distributors. The caller stands in the middle of the table (the player’s hand cards and the bank’s hand are placed). The job of this distributor is to manage the game and announce the winning hand. The remaining two distributors stand to the right and left of the first dealer, and their mission is to collect losing bets, pay the winners of winning players, and take up the commission at the winning bank.
Card reveal rules
Some casinos can allow a player to distribute cards at Big Baccarat’s table. The dealer takes the cards out of the card holder and gives them to the player using a device called a paddle or paddle. However, it is the calling dealer who distributes the cards in most of the casinos that are now.
The first two cards are given in the player’s hand to the player who placed the biggest bet on Player Hand. The player looks at the cards and then gives them to the calling dealer, who then puts these cards on the box called PLAYERS, then the calling dealer announces the total number of hands (for example, he says the player’s hand equals 6). This procedure is repeated with the bank’s hand, where the player who placed the biggest bet on the bank’s hand can view the two cards before giving them to the calling dealer, which in turn announces the total value of the bank’s hand (for example, the dealer says the bank’s hand equals 3).
If one or both hands require a third card, the calling dealer will be given the supplementary card of the same player (via the paddle) to look at and then return it back to the dealer. Then the dealer will announce the winning hand (for example, it says that the bank’s hand won 7 vs. 5 for the player’s hand).
Payment rules for winning players
The dealers will then collect the losing bets, return the winning bets to their respective owners and above them will have a profit equal to their value (except for the tie bet, which wins by 8 to 1). In the event that a bank wins a hand, the distributor places a digital mark with the amount of the commission amount that the player must pay. This mark is placed on commission boxes or “Comission Boxes” depending on the player’s seat number (see graph).
For example, if a player sits on the third seat and bets $ 20 at the hands of the bank and actually wins, the player wins $ 20 and the dealer places a $ 1 mark in commission no. 3.
How to play in casinos that allow players to distribute cards
In casinos that still allow players to hand out cards, the procedure is as follows. After mixing the cards, the card holder is given to the player who sits in seat number 1. When the distributor asks him to distribute the cards, he takes a paper and gives it to the calling dealer while the second card is placed under the front corner of the card holder and the third card is given to the dealer also. The fourth card is placed below the corner Front card holder.
How to distribute and reveal cards
The two cards that are given to the dealer represent the player’s hand, while the two cards located below the corner of the cards case are the hand of the bank. The following procedures are similar to the rules mentioned above (the player with the biggest bet on the player’s hand must look at two cards of the player’s hand, while the player who placed the biggest bet on the bank’s hand also looks at the cards of the dealer’s hand as well. The calling distributor will notify the player who holds the card holder when they must He has to hand the third card over to one hand or two hands together. If the bank’s hand achieves a solid victory, the player will keep the card holder. If the player’s hand wins, the card holder will be passed on to the next player. (Any player can refuse to take up the Cards Portfolio because he does not wish to distribute the cards. In this case, the Portfolio is transferred to the next player).
In Midi-Baccarat, the handling procedures are the same as above. Where the dealer distributes the cards from the card holder, the players who placed the highest bets are given the cards to look at and return them to the dealer again. The dealer distributes and reveals cards and players are not allowed to hold cards. Regardless of the size of the table you are playing on, the rules of the game and payout ratios remain the same.
Four things you should know before playing Bakarah:
- You can play at any Baccarah table alone; There doesn’t have to be any other players on the table.
- The player must pay the commission in his box either when the card deck runs out or when he is ready to leave the table. You can pay off your commissions at any time, but since this can slow down the pace of play, it’s best to wait until the card runs out of cards or when you’re ready to leave the table. Instead of paying commissions every time your bet wins by the bank.
- It is important that you do not lose all your money when playing Bakarah, because if that happens you will not be able to pay your commissions! (This can be embarrassing).
- If the value of the hand of the bank and the value of the player’s hand are equal in sum, then any player betting on the tie option will win a profit of 8 to 1 and all bets that were held by the player and the hand of the bank are also refunded (meaning that these bets were not won or lost).
Baccarat third card rules
Sometimes one or both hands require a third card. The rules for withdrawing a third card often confuse players, which is another reason why they avoid the baccarat game.
So you should know: Baccarat is not like a blackjack game where players must keep a set of rules to know when to stop drawing cards or when to withdraw a new card. Because players in Baccarat do not have playing options. There are standard rules that the casino applies to determine when a player’s hand or the bank’s hand needs a third card. Moreover, it is up to the distributor to determine which hand needs a third card. But you will enjoy more the game if you are familiar with the rules for withdrawing the third card, which we will discuss now.
Rules for distributing the third card at the hands of the player
The standard that determines whether a player’s hand is entitled to a third card is the sum of the previous two cards.
- The player’s hand is entitled to a third card if the sum of the first two cards is from 0 to 5.
- A new card is not withdrawn if the total of the hand ranges from 6 to 9.
Note that the value of the bank’s hand has nothing to do with the dealer’s hand or whether the player’s hand “exceeds” the bank’s hand. The rule is very simple:
- If the sum of the first two cards ranges between 0 and 5, then it is worth a third card.
- If the sum of the hand is 6,7,8,9 then the hand is not entitled to a third card.
In the event that the total hand is 8 or 9 in Bakarah game it will be “normal” and when this happens, neither party can get a third card. (Total 9 is the highest total you can get in Baccarat game like 21 in Blackjack; 8 is the second highest hand in Baccarah).
The rule for obtaining a third card for the bank is more complicated than obtaining a third card for the player. It is not necessary to memorize the following rules if you do not wish to do so; Because casinos employ distributors in exchange for their knowledge of these rules and their application to them!
The rule for obtaining a third card for a bank’s hand depends on three criteria:
- Total hand value of the bank.
- If the player’s hand got a third card or did not get it.
- What is the value of the third card added to the player’s hand.
Summary of the rule for withdrawing the third card from the bank’s hand
The following is a summary of the rule for withdrawing the third card for the bank’s hand:
- The bank’s hand is entitled to a third card if the total of its cards is 0, 1, or 2.
- The bank’s hand does not get a third card if the total of the first two cards is in the hands of the bank or in the hands of the player 8 or 9.
- The bank does not withdraw an additional card if the total of the first two cards is 7.
- The bank’s hand is forbidden from the third card if the total of the first two cards is 6 and the player’s hand has not withdrawn a third card (if the player’s hand pulls a third card, see Rule No. 5).
- If the total hand of the bank reaches 3, 4, 5, or 6 and the player’s hand is withdrawn by a third card, then the bank’s hand does not withdraw a new card as shown in the following figure
The rules for withdrawing the third card for the bank’s hand are summarized above in the following table (similar to the blackjack basic strategy table).
Let’s try a few examples at Pakarah game hands to get to know more the rules of withdrawal and stopping. The first column below is the player’s hand while the second column is the bank’s hand and the third column is the correct action based on the rules of the game.
Player versus dealer: pause and pull
Note: Although players do not have to memorize the rules for withdrawing the third card, if the dealer makes a mistake, you will not be able to discover it. It is better to memorize this rule. It is easy to remember the rules for withdrawing a third card for the player’s hand, but the bank’s hand is more complicated, but you can always write down the rules of the third card mentioned above on paper and refer to them when playing and after a period of play you will become familiar with these rules.
Another note: In the event the distributor makes a mistake, you must draw attention to this error immediately before distributing the cards, and you can ask the supervisor or the lounge manager to review the distribution of the cards.
Casino feature in Baccarat game
The profit ratios for the Baccarah game have been determined by many mathematicians specializing in gambling. We will now show you these percentages. (Assuming that the Baccarat game is played with 8 packs of cards, the bonus will be paid by 1 to 1 winning bet, and in the event that the player wager by the bank, a commission will be deducted by 5%, while the percentage of the tie bet profit is 8 to 1).
The chances of winning the bank’s hand are 45.87%, the chances of loss are 44.63%, and the chances of a tie are 9.51%.
The chances of winning the player’s hand are 44.63%, while the chances of losing are 45.87%, and the equal chances are 9.51%
If we ignore the tie percentages, the winning and losing percentages will be as follows:
- The bank’s hand wins 50.68% of the total card distribution, while the loss percentage is 49.32%.
- The player’s hand wins 49.32% of the hands and loses 50.68% of the hands.
Why casinos put commission at the hands of the bank?
Note that when neutrals are left out, the bank’s hand wins more than it loses. To compensate for this, the casino charges a 5% commission at the winning bank. (With a commission of 5%, the casino feature of betting on the bank’s hand is close to the casino’s feature of betting on the player’s hand. See below for more information on casino profit ratios).
The casino advantage can be calculated by the bank, the player’s hand, or the tie bet by multiplying the probability of winning the hand by the amount that was bet with the amount lost in the probability of losing (to conclude the negative value). The result is the expected value of the player winning in every hand, which will be the opposite of the casino advantage.
The long-term casino advantage of betting on the player’s hand
(+1 unit) x (.4463 probability of winning) + (-1 unit) x (.4587 probability of loss) plus (0 units) x (0.0951 probability of tie) = 0.01235 –
(This means that the player will get an expected value of 1.24% – in the long run, and the advantage of the casino is 1.24%).
The casino’s long-term advantage is to bet on the bank
(+0.95) x (.4585) + (- 1) x (.4462) + (0) x (.0951) = 0.01058 –
That is, the casino feature is 1.06%.
The long-term casino advantage of betting on a tie option
(+8 units) x (0.09516) + (- 1) x (.4585) + (- 1) x (.4462) = 0.14356 – meaning that the casino feature is 14.36%.
If we ignore the 9.51% of the cards that lead to a tie, we can calculate the advantage of the casino by the player and by the bank as follows:
- Player hand: 1.36%
- Hand of the bank: 1.17%
Casino feature of Baccarah game summary
The casino’s advantage of 1.36% on the player’s hand (except for the hands that are tied) means that for every $ 100 of bets that you place on the player’s hand, your expected loss is $ 1.36. You can be lucky to lose less, or you can be unlucky to lose more. But in the long run you can expect to lose $ 1.36 for every $ 100 of bets you place on the player’s hand. Betting by the bank will give you more profit and losses less than $ 1.17 when you bet $ 100. (See Chapter 3 for more information on betting games.)
Whether you count the casino’s expected advantage on all bets (including tie bets) or on all bets (except for tie bets), the expected losses will be the same.
The following is a summary of the casino feature in Baccarah game:
- The bank’s hand has a slightly less casino advantage than the player’s hand.
- The tie bet has a very high casino advantage of 4.36% so it is best to avoid it.
Commission reduced by the bank
The casino commission by the bank has become a thing of the past. Some casinos have now reduced their commission to less than 5%. On my last visit to the famous Binion’s Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas, I benefited from a 4% commission on the winning bet by the bank.
Many regular casinos and internet casinos offer less commission, which means it’s an excellent deal for players. The following table shows how you can reduce the casino advantage at the bank’s hands based on the commission charged. (Note: The negative casino feature is a player’s advantage, and the player gains the advantage when the commission is reduced to 2% or less).
The bottom line: If you find any traditional casino or any online casino offering a commission of less than 5% by the bank, you have to play in it immediately before it becomes a thing of the past!
